Science

The children have been learning about the seven life processes, animals and their habitats. They have looked at food chains and learnt vocabulary such as 'predator' and 'prey'. We have learnt that all animals including humans, perform the seven life processes, which include respiration and nutrition. The acronym MRS NERG (or GREN) has been useful for remembering these facts.

We went to look for mini beasts within the micro habitats in our forest school area. We discovered slugs and snails hiding under flowerpots, ants and woodlouse under logs and quite a few spiders too.

The children have been exploring world habitats and in the next couple of weeks they will be working to create a habitat in a shoe box based on the habitat of their choice, such as the ocean or the desert.

Keep an eye on this page for photos of their final creations!

 HABITATS

The class created 2D or 3D habitats using a range of materials to show a world habitat: rainforest, sea, desert or artic habitat.
