Religion and Worldviews

Autumn Term 2

This half term we have explored the lives of some people for whom Jesus was good news. Jesus offered friendship, forgiveness and peace. We thought about how these offers were ‘good news’ and discussed how Christians show their love for God and their neighbour. We found out more about Christian charities and projects to help homeless people.

Autumn Term 1

In our RE lessons this half term we explored the question; What do Muslims believe about Islam? We learnt that Islam is a religion that believes in one god called Allah, and that Muslims believe Muhammad is a messenger of Allah. We discovered that Muslims follow their faith by carrying out the Five Pillars of Islam: Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca), Sawm (fasting during the month of Ramadan), Zakat (giving to charity), Salat (praying five times a day) and Shahadah (making a declaration of faith).

In groups we thought of actions to represent each of the Five Pillars of Islam.
