English

Summer 1

This half term we are focusing on 'The Queen's Hat' by Steve Antony and writing a recount about our time at Forest School.

Spring 2

This half term we will be exploring the adventure story 'Grandad's Island' and we will be learning about poetry using the 'By Myself' poem.

Experience Day - Fires

Spring 1

We will be focusing on 'Wombat Goes Walkabout' and 'The Song of the Sea'. It is also National Storytelling Week at the end of January so our children will get a chance to be storytellers!

Firework Experience Day

Autumn 2

This half term we are looking at the poem 'Firework Night' by Andrew Collett and having a go at writing our own 'Christmas Eve' poem. We will be looking at a 'Seasons' information text and will write our own information text.

Gressenhall Trip

We visited Gressenhall for the 'Once Upon a Time' workshop day. We were introduced to many fairy tale characters and helped Cinderella solve the mystery of the lost fairy tale items. We helped Cinderella clean the cottage, milked the cows, painted the house, took a trip on a tractor, supported Jack on his beanstalk quest, made potions with the Wicked Witch and looked for clues in the post office. We had a fabulous day!

Autumn 1

We will be exploring fairy tales and ‘The Story of Pinocchio’. Additionally, relating to our History topic, we will be writing a report based on toys from the past.
