You will be getting the log in and password for your child's 'Purple Mash' account today in bookbags. Please look after it and note it down so that you can access it at home. We have been on 'Mini Mash' in school, which your children will be able to navigate around themselves. Have fun! :)
We have been creating 'light and dark' pieces of art. Here, we are learning about mixing colours and creating a background using a lighter colour first. We learnt about foregrounds, middle grounds and backgrounds.
Performing 'The Dark' Poems
Cloud & Rain Tests
Seasons
We have been learning about the four different seasons. The children have been thinking about what clothes we wear during different seasons and how the trees change. They were asked to create a tree representing each of the 4 seasons.
Thank you for all your donations today!

Autumn 2
We hope you all had a lovely break. This half term, our topic is 'Let there be Light'. We will be looking at nocturnal animals, 'The Dark' by Lemony Snicket, religious festivals, how Christmas has changed over time and the four seasons, among many other things. Our PE lessons continue to be on a Monday and Wednesday. Homework will continue to be set on a Monday, with a spelling quiz the following Monday. At the moment, we are having slight technical difficulties with the 'chat' function on Teams but we hope to have it running smoothly again soon. If you do need anything in the meantime, please email me on the class email.
I look forward to another fabulous half term with Year 1!
Thank you for a wonderful first half term of the year. Your support with getting into new routines has been great. We have had a great time in Year One and we've enjoyed learning about our seaside topic. The children have remembered lots over the last few weeks and have worked very hard - a big well done to them! We hope you all have a fabulous half term and look forward to seeing you all soon.
Pumpkin Mosaics
Computing with the Beebots :)
We have been looking at ordering objects in Maths from the greatest to the smallest and the other way round. We had a go with things in our classroom - maybe you could find things at home?
Homework 28/9/20
Homework for this week is on 'Teams'. If you could either email the homework or send it through a private chat on 'Teams', that would be fabulous. If you have any questions on how to use it, I will try and answer them the best I can! All due next Monday. Thank you :)
'Choosing Time' fun! :)
We have been reading 'At the Beach' and have been learning about the seaside. The children wrote postcards to a 'Grandma' just like in the story. We talked about the things we do at the seaside and making sure we use a capital letter and full stop. We have also been practising our handwriting. As a school, we are using cursive handwriting, which can be quite tricky to start with! Year One have been working really hard with this and it is already becoming easier.
Homework Update
I will be sending the first lot of spellings and maths homework on Monday. I will set it each Monday and children will have one week (until the following Monday) to do it. This will be carried out using 'Teams'. The office staff have informed me that you will all have a username/password and instruction on how to use it by Monday. We think it will be better to use 'Teams' as a homework tool instead of carrying paper between home and school. If you have any questions about the homework at any time, please feel free to email me.
Just a reminder that books will be changed every Monday and Thursday if they have been read. Please make sure children have their books in school on these days.
Thank you very much for your continued support! :)
We have been learning to represent numbers using different objects, find missing numbers in our counting and to sort objects into different groups based on colour, size, shape or position. Here are some photos of us learning.
Hello and Welcome
Thank you for a wonderful first day back! The new routines got off to a good start - hopefully we will get quicker with them as the time goes on. It has been lovely to meet lots of you and get to know your lovely children. I've attached the letter that was sent via email earlier today in case you need to refer to it. If you need to contact me in the next few days, please email the office until our class emails are up and running.
