The Marimba Club is available for Year 6 children and caters for a range of abilities. It takes place during the school day and is open to about 20 children.
The music is generally arranged in 3 or 4 parts and each part is quite simple. The children have to learn the part from memory and then use listening skills to keep in time with the rest of the group. There is no conductor and it develops a musical awareness of parts that are going on around them. As the year progresses and the group develops, the pieces increase in complexity.
The marimba group performs at the annual Gorleston St. Andrew’s Music Festival and have been awarded high praise and trophies for their performances. They also perform at the schools Christmas service at St Andrew and St Peter Church, Blofield and add an extra special quality to the event.
